Happy Cute Halloween! [10-31-2012]

 Happy Halloween My Bunnies!

As I'm sure everyone has heard, the East Coast sure had a bad time these last couple of days. Some states even postponed Halloween! Hope everyone is ok and is getting their life back!

My job is actually one of the places effected by the "Frankenstorm" and has been closed even for today! I hope everything is ok but I still would like the whole week off. Where I work and plenty of other places are still flooded, have no power and there are big messes everywhere. Luckily, our area was ok and we kept power.

At work, we were going to have lots of Halloween activities going - even a costume contest so we could even dress up for work! But since work is closed, I decided to dress up at home. My idea was to make an awesome excuse to dress how I really want to dress everyday. So I called it "80s Teenager" (though it's really Fairy Kei). It's one good way to take the mind off of the mess the hurricane left.

So what do you think? I decided to keep it simple but cute. And it still kinda has a Halloween theme to it. Here is the rundown:

Wig: shop on eBay (originally for my Serah, FFXIII cosplay)
Shirt: Tasty Peach Studios
Skirt: Wet Seal
Tights: Holley Tea Time
Leg warmers and shoes: shops on eBay
Accessories: Holley Tea Time, KawaiiLand, Cute Can Kill, Rococo Neko

This is my first time putting together a full Fairy Kei outfit. But I think it came out rather cute - don't you think? Sorry about the odd background. I took the photos myself and had to use the best mirrors in the house. In my bathroom!

Hope you like the photos and my coord! And I hope that anyone that is going out Trick or Treating - please be careful. Go in groups, go in well-lit areas. Play it smart.

What are you going to be for today?!

Happy Halloween!

Windy Days Ahead... [10-28-2012]

Seems like it's been a while since I posted! Been making preparations for Halloween and now to make sure we're ready for Hurricane Sandy! I may or may not be able to post tomorrow so if I don't - stay safe everyone! Here's hoping everyone gets through this okay!

Oh and a side note - I changed my comments widget so all of my previous comments are gone. It sucks that there isn't one widget that keeps everything on record!!!! Oh well...

Moon Crystal Power, Make Up! ~ Starlight Deco Dream Review [10-24-2012]

(^▽^)/What's In the Box Wednesdays\(^▽^)

Hey there, bunnies! With all the buzz about a new Sailor Moon anime, the shoujo world has been going crazy. The great thing is that long time fans will now have their chance to collect memorabilia they may have missed or they can get the new items. Thanks to it being a world release, everyone can get Sailor Moon goodies! Even fans are making beautiful pieces!

I'm sure you've heard of the lovely shop - ♥ Starlight Deco Dream ♥ owned by the sweet Kyandi! This awesome shop has things for all of your Mahou-Kei and Fairy-Kei accessory needs. You can find Spank! inspired goodies, kawaii 80s style earrings and even some Sailor Moon inspired things! This was my first time buying from her shop and I just had to get her Sailor Moon R Necklace.

My order came in this pretty bag tied with a ribbon and covered in stars. I love the fact that the packaging is related to the name. I can never stress it enough how important packaging is even compared to a shop's brand.

Inside the bag, I found two cards, the box and original art sticker! The two cards have different ways you can find and contact Kyandi. Both feature really cute art and cute font. Makes me want to do some really cute business cards! The sticker has super cute design and coloring. I wish I had her wig!

In the box, we have my necklace! It has a beautiful shine. It's Sailor Moon's brooch made out of laser cut acrylic with acrylic jewel accents. It is exactly how Sailor Moon's brooch actually looks! I love how the gold parts are reflective and the pink shines like a pearl. Like the real brooch, each gem for the inner scouts surround what would be the gem representing Sailor Moon. It's hung from a strong gold-colored chain and is actually quite large with a good weight to it. It takes up most of my hand!

I am very happy with my order. It's perfect for any Mahou-Kei coord or fan of shoujo and it's an exact replica to the real thing. You can find more Sailor Moon pieces as well as cute Fairy Kei accessories in her shop. And for long-time anime fans, she's a big fan of Creamy Mami! Super sweet and into fashion and anime - what more could one ask for!

Thank you, Kyandi! I will be ordering from you again in the future!

Sweet Sunday: Faraway Friends [10-21-2012]

Friends come from many different places. Some you might even find in places you would never think they would be. And it can be sad when you can't hang out with them all the time.

Luckily for us, there are many ways to communicate. I always talk on Skype with my boyfriend. With my friends, I can talk to them through Facebook, Twitter, email and my personal favorite - writing letters (on very cute stationary of course!). It's more personal and you can decorate your letters any way you want. I also like to include little gifts when I can. I have friends in Europe, in other states and even just the next town over that I like to write to. I used to write often to friends when I was younger but now I am back into it and it's pretty fun!

One of the best parts about writing letters is finding cute stationary to use.You can find some really cute paper and other essentials on sites like ♥ Kawaii Shop ModeS4U ♥ and ♥ CoolPencilCase ♥.

Do you have any pen pals?

Follow the Music: Eternal Sonata Review [10-19-2012]

Happy Friday! You might be expecting a Lolita Blog Carnival post today but I have chosen not to participate this week. Hopefully for the next one I will! Today will be more of a thought/review!

As you know, I own the XBOX360 version of Eternal Sonata (aka "Trusty Bell - Chopin's Dream"). It took me a while to finish it because my first system broke down on me. I was so upset because it was the system (thankfully not the hard drive) and I really wanted to continue playing this game!

I am a big fan of classical music but I don't know a lot about the history of the composers. Eternal Sonata actually gives the player the opportunity to learn about the life of one of the most famous composers - Frédéric François Chopin. Yes, the Polish composer that lived in the early 1800s and created beautiful pieces like "Funeral March in C Minor" and "Fantaisie-Impromptu in C-sharp Minor".

In Eternal Sonata, we learn that Chopin is in his final hours, his body very weak from having Tuberculosis. He's unconscious in his bed as the doctor and two women (probably one of them being his lover) watch him as it was explained that this night would be his most trying time yet.

We soon go into a world that doesn't seem to match where Chopin is. There, we meet many different characters. We have the heroic Allegretto. The innocent Beat. The pure Polka. (Sounds very fitting for a game about a composer right?) There are more characters named Viola, Serenade, Crescendo, March, Salsa, Claves, Jazz and Falsetto. And would you believe that all of these are playable characters?! (The only sad part is that Prince Crescendo and Princess Serenade are only available to join your team on the PS3 version of the game.)

Each character has their own part in the story but all reach to the same ultimate goal and each have their own skills. Polka is a great healer while March is a power hitter (and great for combos). I just love the fact that they are all named after musical terms!

The game has a pretty good story. Basically, each of the characters have something they want to protect but feel threatened by the evil Count Waltz. The Count has a plan for the people of the world to use a harmful substance called Mineral Powder. It's supposed to be used as medicine but has bad side effects. Polka has a more natural version called Floral Powder which actually is a medicine.

As you can tell by the original name of the game, the events of these characters' story takes place in Chopin's dream while he sleeps. During the course of events, we also get nice interludes that feature not only a select piece by Chopin, but a story of the composer's real life. Honestly, if it weren't for this game, I wouldn't have learned so much about what he's been through.

I won't say everything but Chopin has been through a lot. He escaped the coming revolution in Poland and could never get back home. He was homesick and sad that he lost the place he belonged. A lot of his music was based on his feelings and how much he missed Poland. He was glad to be alive but it's still difficult to go on when you can't go home. Many themes like being homesick, running away, fighting for what's right and friendship are big things in this game.

I think Eternal Sonata did a great job of not only teaching us about such an amazing composer, but teaching us about music and fighting for our beliefs. I didn't go a lot into details because the experience I got from playing is something I'll always treasure. It has a beautiful soundtrack and amazing visuals. And the clothing design even looks like variations of Lolita! ♥ Even the battles are fun. I highly recommend this game to any RPG and/or music lover! Won't you give it a try?

Until next time~
